Olivia Cherundolo

I started Bakeville Treats in December 2023 to provide custom cakes and treats to my community. I am a self-taught baker who spent 24 years as a commercial mortgage banker. As I would bake for every office birthday and celebration, my colleagues eventually dubbed me as "The Mortgage Baker". I have been living in Bronxville with my husband and twins since the Summer of 2018.
My Younger Years with Baking
I was one of those kids who always wanted an Easy Bake Oven.  8th grade home economics class taught me how easy it was to create homemade treats by following recipes. I soon picked up a passion of gifting massive quantities of homemade classic Rice Krispie Treats - so many that I had to borrow casserole dishes from our family, friends, and neighbors. We actually formed an assembly line treat factory in our Long Island home kitchen between me, my mom, and dad pressing, cutting, and packing treats to then re-starting the process of cleaning pots, melting butter...etc.
How the Business Started
After moving to Bronxville, I would find ways to fulfill my passion of baking and gifting homemade treats. I also joined a few book clubs - most notably, the Junior League of Bronxville's book club in 2021, in which I was beyond enthused to provide dessert. Book club members began asking  if I could make cakes for their child's birthday and other upcoming celebrations. I didn't have a sense of my costs back then and as people insisted to pay me for efforts, I asked that they just give me a bottle of wine if they liked the cake. Through word of mouth, the cake requests kept coming in and our wine fridge was overflowing. In 2019, the Junior League of Bronxville asked if I could teach a cake decorating class to its members. Teaching was something I had never even contemplated. I worked on a lesson plan and then taught cake decorating 101 to 16 amazing women. That led to teaching a few cake decorating classes at The Bronxville Adult School and the rest is history.

My Community
I am a strong advocate for giving back. I regularly donate cakes and my services to local fundraisers, including The Bronxville School PTA, St. Joseph School, Reformed Church Nursery School, Hope's Door, The Junior League of Bronxville, The Picture House, and the Village of Bronxville. I am an active member of the Junior League of Bronxville, having previously served 3 years on the management team, Co-Chair of the Character & Community Council for Bronxville Elementary PTA for the 3rd consecutive year, Chair of the Memorial Country Fair Bake-Off Competition for the 3rd consecutive year, and Treasurer of the Girl Scouts for the 3rd consecutive year (troop 02898).
